Inspiration Versus Education (Cetacean Shows)

You've seen me talk about inspiration a lot on my site and now I'm going to talk about why cetacean shows are so important, for both the animals and the audience.

The shows, now known and shown as presentations. The orcas will present a natural behaviour for the audience while a narrator will explain the behaviour and why orcas use this behaviour in the wild. This not only provides the whales with physical exercise and stimulation, but it also educates the audience. But the thing is... When a show is too educational, the audience loses interest and the immense and beautiful effect of inspiration is lost. People’s learning experience is better when interest is hooked and then learning comes naturally.

That is why theatrical shows are so important. Because it engages and inspires the audience to become the next generation of animal lovers and conservationist. Or simply inspire the world to love these animals and do what they can to protect the environment.

Finding the right balance between educational shows and theatrical shows is difficult, but so important. If the show is too educational, the show loses its impact and loses the interest of the audience, but if the show is too theatrical, then the message is lost.

I really love the way SeaWorld Orlando have found the perfect mix of the two into one show. Both inspiring and educational! I hope to watch shows from other facilities as well!
